Please join us in welcoming YDU fellow Sasha Garcon and law clerk Marybeth Irons!
Sasha Garcon joins YDU in September 2014 as a JD Distinguished Fellow through American University's Washington College of Law. A 2014 graduate of American University’s Washington College of Law, Sasha practiced as a student attorney in the Criminal Justice Clinic, representing children in Montgomery County and Prince George’s County, Maryland. Sasha dedicated much of her time in law school to working with juveniles charged with crimes in Maryland and/or DC. She taught constitutional law in DC public high schools through the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project and mentored youth committed to the District of Columbia’s Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services. Sasha received her Bachelors in Science from University of Maryland, College Park, where she majored in Family Science and Sociology.
Marybeth Irons is a second year student at the University of Baltimore School of Law. She holds a BA in Spanish and American Cultural Studies from Bates College. She is a member of the National Civil Rights Moot Court Team, and Vice President of Outreach for OUTLaw. She plans to dedicate her career to public defense and issues around LGBT youth in the criminal justice system.
Please join us in welcoming new YDU social worker Brittany Marshall!
We are delighted to welcome Brittany Marshall to YDU and the Maryland Office of the Public Defender. Brittany is a licensed social worker who holds a masters degree in social work from the University of Maryland. She is a former intern in OPD's Rockville office and has extensive experience working with children in the criminal and juvenile systems.
