There are eight statewide divisions within the Office of the Public Defender (OPD).
Maryland is divided into twelve operational districts. Each District conforms to the statutory geographic boundaries of the District Courts. OPD maintains offices in each of these districts.
Maryland's Public Defender is often appointed to legislative task forces that consider criminal justice public policy. Click here for all the latest information.
OPD is currently recruiting for trial attorneys to join our Spring Class of 2017 and for our Fall Class of 2017. We are also taking applications for current third year law students to join OPD in January after graduation.
